Located
on the banks of river Yamuna, Taj Mahal is regarded as the best expression
of love in white marble. This most beautiful mausoleum was recognized as a
World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built it in the
memory of his beloved wife Queen Mumtaz. The Taj is the most popular site
among tourists from India and beyond.
A
boat ride along the enchanting Dal Lake is rated as one of the most
out-of-the-world romantic experiences ever. It is, in fact, one of the names
which makes Kashmir, Kashmir. This second largest lake in Kashmir flows past
the lush Mughal gardens and monuments to meet River Jhelum. Its houseboats,
known as Shikaras locally, cozily warming couples, lots of things including
flowers being bought and sold make the best scene to capture in the lances.
Hawa
Mahal, meaning the 'Palace of Winds', represents Rajput excellence in
architecture. This monument was used the private chambers of the ladies from
where they could have a look at the activities of the city. Built by
Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1799, this marvelous monument is a part of famous
City Palace. Tourist love to visit this place to have a look at the city. 
Kerala
Backwaters are nothing but an endless sensual feast. You would always
cherish the memories of spending a night in a houseboat. These palm-fringed
waterways are recognized as one of the most beautiful locales in the world.
These houseboats are equipped with all the amenities of a star cruise
including bath joint, opened living room and dormitory. The network of
channels, lakes, lagoons and estuaries of over 44 rivers emptying in the
Arabian Sea, is named as the backwaters of Kerala. This network starts from
Cochin and ends at Kollam. 
Nestled
amidst dense forests of Madhya Pradesh, the temples of Khajuraho represent
the best of temple architecture. Most of these ornate temples are devoted to
numerous Hindu deities. Built during 950-1050 AD by Chandela kings, these
temples are often misinterpreted due to some erotic carvings on the outer
walls. Whole of the complex is divided into three sections western, eastern
and southern. An annual festival Khajuraho Dance Festival - is held here in
March. 
Located
near the city of Aurangabad in Maharastra, Ajanta Ellora Caves are rated one
of the best pieces of rock-cut architecture throughout the world and
included in World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. All 29 caves at Ajanta and 34
caves at Ellora remained in oblivion for over a millennium until John Smith,
a British Army Officer, accidentally stumbled upon them while on a hunting
expedition in 1819. The caves of Ajanta Caves depict the story of Buddhism
between 200 BC and 650 AD.
