Visakhapatnam, better known by its colonial name Vizag, is a city of beautiful beaches, temples, sprawling parks, crispy dosas, and warm-hearted people. The second-largest city in Andhra, yet away from the touristy scene, Vizag holds the promise of a beautiful holiday destination. Its scenic beauty is complemented by its rich cultural heritage, spiritual temples, and a sprinkling of Buddhism. Join us for some beach fun in this delightful city of Andhra Pradesh.
Clean, pristine, and embellished with gorgeous sculptures, Rama Krishna Beach, fondly called RK Beach, is the entertainment hub of Vizag. A perfect place to have some fun in the crashing waves, a romantic beach stroll, or to gaze at tiny fishing boats & monstrous merchant ship making their way to the horizon- RK beach is fun for all!
One of its kinds in Asia, this submarine-turned-museum offers you the experience of the interiors of a submarine. INS Kursura, the 5th submarine of India, was beached at RK Beach and turned into a museum in 2002 to offer a fantastic experience to its many visitors.
Located at one end of the Beach Road, Kalaisagiri Hill is accessible both by a winding road, and a cable car ride. A gigantic Shiva Parvati statue graces the hilltop, where the entire area has been converted into public parks with swings, eateries, and a little toy train chugging around the hill. A perfect place to watch magnificent sunrise & sunset, Kailasagiri is a favorite with locals & tourists alike.
Placed right on the edge of the Dolphin Hill, this old lighthouse stands as a beacon to the ships sailing in the area. Climb up its many steps for a guided lighthouse tour and gaze at the awesome city views from the top.
A colorful hill top temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Narsimha, Simhachalam temple is one of the most visited temples in Vizag.
A few kilometers away from Vizag, on a hill overlooking the sea, this beautiful spot preserves the relics & ruins of a 2000-year-old Buddhist complex. Drive up the hill for some Buddhist adventure and panoramic sea views.
